ADVOCACY


  • Communication
    • Definition: exchanging information, feelings, thoughts, and needs/wants in order to work better with others towards a goal
  • Self Awareness
    • Exploring the character traits, strengths and weaknesses, and uniqueness of the kids; using self-knowledge as a tool for further peacemaking
    • Asking students to identify who they are, and what they value; in order to advocate for yourself and others, you must first understand what is important to you


APPRECIATION AND THANK YOUS

  • Definition: the recognition of the good qualities of someone or something; showing gratitude
  • Skills: recognition, communication, appreciating others


HELPING OTHERS AND INTERCONNECTEDNESS

  • Cooperation and Teamwork
    • Encouraging students to work together to achieve a common goal, as oftentimes people within a community do, and encouraging students to emerge as leaders within a group.
  • Critical Thinking
    • Thinking critically about one's surroundings and looking for what can be improved/who may be in need

    • Understanding the impact one can have on others

    • Definition: a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired

    • Definition: the combined action/effort of a group of people towards a common goal
